Language mediation in end-of-life care is the process of translating not just literal words, but also complex emotional tones, cultural values, and medical facts between healthcare teams, dying patients, and their families. It bridges gaps when people face terminal illness across language or cultural differences.

Offer Description
The language and integration mediation service offers in-person and online services.
The use of trained language and integration mediators can be particularly helpful for difficult or critical conversations within hospice and palliative care settings. Language and integration mediators can be booked free of charge through the Central Hospice Information Center in the following situations:
Advice on medical and nursing matters for hospice and palliative care (including the provision of diagnoses),
Support and improvement in the communication of difficult messages and in critical conversations (including poor prognosis for cancer patients),
Language and integration mediators: can be booked for group consultation appointments by arrangement.
Attention: This offer is not intended for low-threshold needs for language interpretation and support!
Language interpretation can be provided in person on site or via telephone/video.
The use of language and integration mediators aims to facilitate smooth communication between patients and professionals . This also prevents underage children or adolescents, as well as close relatives, from having to translate for those affected. The neutrality of trained language and integration mediators helps avoid conflicts of conscience or belief.

This way you can use the service free of charge!
For requests for in-person support: You will generally receive an order confirmation within three days. If no language and integration mediator can be provided for your requested date, you will also be informed. It is recommended to book appointments in advance to ensure the availability of language and integration mediators.
When requesting a telephone/video interpreter: You will usually receive confirmation within 24 hours.
